COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Information

Dear Patients,

At this time, we are not offering the COVID vaccine at our office. This may change in the future with the potential  availability of newer vaccines. The Ministry of Health is now doing mass vaccination at clinics throughout  Toronto. Please read the following information and, should you meet the criteria, please follow the instruction to get yourself pre-registered. This information is also available on our office website. COVID- 19 Vaccine Registration Process

Toronto hospitals and their partner Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) joined forces to launch a centralized COVID-19 call centre and website to support eligible adults in Toronto to pre-register or book their vaccination appointments. The Toronto COVID- 19 Vaccine call centre and website will be one central place to support priority populations identified  as part of Phase 1 in the Ontario Vaccine Distribution Plan:

  • Adults 75 years of age or older (as of March 22)
  • Health care workers in priority risk groups
  • Indigenous adults (16 years of age or older)
  • Adults receiving ongoing home care

The COVID vaccine AstraZeneca is now available at selected pharmacies around the GTA.

If you are 75 or older in 2021, you have the option to book your vaccine appointment at either a mass vaccination clinic or pharmacy.

If you are 60 or older in 2021, you can book your vaccine appointment at a pharmacy.

Ontario has a three-phase plan that prioritizes vaccine for those at greatest risk of severe illness and those who care for them. We are currently moving to Phase 2 of the plan.

Phase 1 High-risk populations
(approximately 1.8 million people)

December 2020- March 2021

  • Congregative living for seniors
  • Health care workers
  • Adults in First Nations, Metis and Inuit populations
  • Adult chronic home care recipients
  • Adults over 80 years of old

Distribution through:
Hospital site clinics, mobile teams, site-specific clinics, mass vaccination clinics (late March)

Phase 2
Mass deliveries of vaccines
(approximately 9 million people)

April 2021- July 2021

  • Adults aged 60-79, in 5 year increments.
  • High-risk congregate settings (such as shelters, community living)
  • Individuals with high-risk chronic conditions and their caregivers for details of criteria, a full list is available here under “Phase 2: mass deliveries of vaccines.”
  • Essential workers who cannot work from home
  • At risk populations.

Distribution through:
Mass vaccination clinics, pharmacies, primary care, site-specific clinics, mobile teams, mobile sites, public health units.

Phase 3
Steady state

July 2021 onwards

  • Adults 59 years and younger

Distribution through:
Mass vaccination clinics, pharmacies, primary care, site-specific clinics, mobile teams, mobile sites, public health units.

The physicians at St. Clair Medical Associates encourage all their patients to have the COVID vaccine as soon as they are eligible. These vaccines represent one of the most important strategies to limit hospitalization and save lives. All Covid vaccine are very effective at reducing the rate of death, serious disease, and hospitalization due to Covid infection.

Please be assured that we will let you know if we receive any vaccines in the future, and if you are eligible to receive it from us. Receiving a vaccine, whichever is available, is the most prudent strategy to ensure both individual and community protection.
